about
The idea for the YWACC was first sparked in our freshman year Environmental Lab Science class. We were asked to create an independent project that would “Shape a Changing World.” Together, we decided to increase the amount of renewable energy that our school community used. We met with school officials to discuss how renewable energy is already being used at Miss Porters, and why renewable energy could further benefit our school in the future.
Even when the class ended in June, we were still inspired to continue the work that we had started. After setting up a meeting with the Farmington Town Council’s Green Efforts Committee, we began to set forth a concrete plan on what we wanted to do with our project in the future. Thus, we created the YWACC, to educate others our age about climate change, as well as promote the use of renewable energy. We hope that you will join us in our effort!
